Water Cremation Explained
Alkaline hydrolysis uses water, potassium hydroxide, heat, and gentle pressure to accelerate natural decomposition. At the end of the water cremation process, your pet’s physical components have been returned to their natural elements, dispersed in water – with only the solid bone remaining. We process the bones and return them to you as ‘ashes’ and the water solution is returned to the earth as fertilizer. The decomposition that occurs in alkaline hydrolysis is the same as that which occurs during burial however a process that would naturally take months or years is reduced to just 10-20 hours.
The process was first developed by Amos Herbert Hanson in 1888 as a method to process animal carcasses into plant food. The first commercial machine was developed in 2005 and is now available worldwide for pets.
Benefits of water cremation compared to flame cremation are:
Services

Private
With a private cremation your pet will be placed in an individual compartment with a steel Identifying tag to ensure that only your pets remains are returned to you. The steel tag is placed with your pet at the vet or at home pick up and will remain with them throughout the complete process.

Communal
Communal cremation means your pet may be placed with other pets during the process, and the remains will be lovingly scattered in our garden. This is an option for those who do not wish to have their pets’ ‘ashes’ returned.
